Wat doe je als Intern, True Value Reporting bij TenneT?

Do you want to gain experience in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility, are you a motivated person with good communication skills, that would like to learn how a leading European TSO and external parties collaborate and work together in a dynamic environment?

Then we are looking for you!

It is TenneT's mission to provide security of electricity supply in the markets we serve and to pursue the development of an integrated and sustainable North West European electricity market. We take the responsibility to maintain grid stability and enhance the high-voltage infrastructure, enabling the large-scale use of renewables. Beyond contributing to reducing the overall carbon footprint of the Netherlands and Germany by facilitating the transition to renewable energy, we also taking measures to limit and compensate for our own impact.

For TenneT, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), is not only related to the reduction of our carbon footprint, but includes a much broader pallet of subjects, related to create a sustainable future for all our internal and external stakeholders, in line with our strategic priority to anticipate and address what society wants and needs through dialogue and innovation. TenneT aims to be among the best CSR performing TSO’s in western Europe and is continuously looking for innovations and opportunities to improve the level of CSR.

Project execution, in small and large projects, is always accompanied with the question: what are the benefits? Financial benefits are easy to quantify, but in most projects benefits to society or to the environment are much harder to quantify. Within the projects TenneT is executing we have undoubtedly a large impact on society and environment. And therefore this question is also valid to us. As such, we have made a first step in monetising our non-financial impact to provide insight into a project’s true societal impact. In the selected pilot project in Apeldoorn, we installed underground cabling in the municipality to replace an overhead line that crossed two neighbourhoods and a park. Our research focused on finding out what the measurable social and ecological impact of this project would be compared to the existing situation (the results can be found in the society chapter of our annual report). The first pilot project was a success and we want to step up. Therefore we want to apply this methodology to two new projects (in the Netherlands and Germany). The Dutch project has already been selected and deals with building a new interconnection (to connect the NL and German network); Doetinchem-Wesel. The project contains constructing this new line, combined with reconstructing and cabling of two regional lines, enlarging substation and diverse compensation measures. Additionally, we want to improve our approach towards monetizing our non-financial impact in cooperation with other infrastructure companies (we are part of a network).

Your role is to lead this project within TenneT and to work together with the external parties. The work will be diverse, from getting insight in the projects on location to analysing and presenting the data. This project is part of the larger CSR strategy plan 2015-2017. Depending on the development of this project and your wishes you can be involved in other projects on the CSR agenda for 2017. You will work together with the CSR Policy Advisor.
